Class Experience
Fun & relaxed sewing classes for both beginner and more advanced sewists. Classes are mixed with students of all levels as we work on individual projects tailored to your skill level and preference. We meet once per week for 4 weeks at a time. Each class is 2 hours long.
Classes are mixed with students who are brand new to sewing and students who have sewn a lot and all levels in between!
If you're a beginner the class will be very similar to my kids beginner class. This is a very basic, super relaxed, ‘no need to be nervous about not knowing anything’ type of class. Everyone will work on the same projects but at your own pace. This class is also great for someone who has sewed before but needs a refresher on all the basics of sewing.
Class #1: we will get to know the sewing machine & threading and sew a small project
Class #2: we will cut and sew a pillow case
Class #3: will cut and start sewing PJ shorts (you can sew adult or kids size)
Class #4: depending on progress in class three we will finish PJs and possibly start a new project (tote bag)
If you're a more advanced sewist you can work on some of the more advanced projects we have in class or bring your own projects and fabrics too. We have sergers in class and even a coverstitch machine so there is always something new to learn!
About Us
I learned to sew probably before I knew how to read. Before I entered 1st grade.
After school I would go over to my best friend Hanna's house and we'd sew new clothes for our dolls. When we got older we started sewing clothes for our selves. I have a few class photos of me wearing clothes I made myself!
I was lucky to be able continue my love for Sewing and Fashion and received Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design with an emphasis on Sewing. After graduating I moved to New York City to work as an Assistant Designer. Ever since then I've worked in the Fashion Industry as a Fashion Designer for companies like Mudd Jeans, Skechers, Soundgirl etc.
In 2008 I started my own collection called SOLDAT TAILORING.
My highlight, so far, has been my 1st runway show on the runways during Los Angeles Fashion Week in 2013. Below are a few images from my collection ;-)
It is very sad to see that sewing is no longer taught at schools. That is one of the major reasons why I wanted to start the Sewing Lab. I am more than excited to be able to teach sewing to kids and adults, and to keep the craft of sewing alive!
At the Sewing Lab you'll get to sew with top of the line Janome sewing machines, these machines are the real deal. Also for most classes all materials are included and projects are based on skill level. It is fun to have a mixed class of beginner and more advanced students, we all learn and get inspired from watching what others are working on.
See you at the Sewing Lab!

This class will help you master fitting and sewing any pattern in any knit. Sewing with knit fabrics today is quick, easy, and very fashionable! From casual to formal wear, knit fabrics rule, but all the old “rules” don’t.
Each student will learn new skills as they work through projects of their choosing. We have many project options available at every level or you can bring your own ideas. Students work to try new techniques, build skills and gain independence with the guidance of the instructor.
