Applications are now open through CAC Locker profile year round. Program acceptance is completed each summer for a new cohort to begin in September.

The CSI Atlantic Advanced Coaching Diploma (ACD) Program operates in collaboration with the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC).

Coaches are recognized as key pillars of the Canadian sport system, thus ongoing education and professional development is critical to enhancing the development of athletes in the Canadian sport system.

The mission of the CSI Atlantic is to develop world class, expert coaches for Train to Train, Train to Compete and Train to Win stages of the sport system, including those working with developmental and high performance athletes in Atlantic Canada.

The NCI Level 4/5 program has been replaced by the new ACD Program. This exciting new curriculum integrates coaching activities under four themes: Coaching Leadership, Coaching Effectiveness, Performance Planning and Training and Competition Readiness.

The ACD leads to certification at the competition development – advanced level of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). The program targets coaches who are committed to life-long learning and personal and professional development.

ACD coach-candidates have the opportunity to work with experts in every aspect of sport and to share experiences with other coaches in an internationally recognized competency-based educational system.

Each theme is divided into a series of modules that in turn are divided into three hour units. Content and sport experts will facilitate the unit sessions which are designed to encourage coaches to learn through a reflective, problem-solving process involving critical analysis, planning and synthesis of ideas and integration and implementation of new ideas and knowledge into daily coaching practices.

Assignments from sessions will be compiled to create a portfolio that demonstrates evidence of their coaching competencies.

The ACD Program curriculum is delivered in two program phases over 30-32 months. There are four (4) “In –Person” weekend sessions (Friday afternoon – evening to Sunday afternoon) throughout the program supplemented by a series of online web sessions.

The ACD program admits active coaches who wish to pursue professional development without interrupting their coaching careers.

Admission to the ACD program is open coaches who meet the requirements. The target coaches must be working with Train to Train, Train to Compete or Train to Win level athletes, and thus typical coaches tend to be:

  • University
  • Canada Games
  • Provincial Team head coaches
