This 4 day advanced confined space training is a premium course designed for those wanting to get involved in standby rescue, become a rescue technician or develop existing rescue skills as a dedicated team member of an Emergency Response Team (ERT).

We MAX the course at 8 students so we can give individual attention as needed, to enable you or your team to be confident and proficient as members of a rescue team.

If you’re serious about rescue, this is the course for you. It will be hard, intense, make you think on your feet or on your belly.

You know what they say good training isn’t cheap and cheap training isn’t good.

This advanced confined space rescue training covers all the information from our 2 Day confined space entry and standby training but will also include training for personnel who need to know how to operate breathing apparatus for work and rescue purposes including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). And most of all, be able to perform complex rescue in confined spaces as part of a Confined Space Rescue Team

In order to safety supervise and run a confined space project you may require our advanced training, although you may not need to enter the space yourself, you need to be aware of the risks and equipment checks that need to be in place to adequately protect people under your control.

What you will learn

  • Everything in our 2 day Confined Space Entry and Standby program.
  • Breathing apparatus training covers the skills and knowledge required to operate and maintain breathing apparatus and equipment in an irrespirable atmosphere, as defined by the Australian Standard AS/NZS 1715:2009 Selection, use and maintenance of respiratory protective equipment, which includes SCBA.
  • The names and functions of equipment, components and materials
  • Safe shifting and handling of tools and materials
  • The nature of rescue work.
  • A wide range of rescue and environmental situations, which may include industrial, rural, bush and extreme environmental conditions.
  • Supervisor and employee responsibilities for rescue.
  • Team rescue (entry method).
  • Rescue from outside the space.
  • Self rescue (escape)
  • Writing a rescue plan
  • locating and applying relevant documentation, policies and procedures
  • completion of entering and working in confined spaces that safely, effectively and efficiently including:
  • obtain appropriate entry permit and instructions for performing work in confined space
  • interpreting and applying safe work method statements
  • apply tagging and lock out
  • selecting, wearing and caring for personal protective equipment applicable to all tasks and environment identified
  • entering the confined space
  • using atmospheric monitoring devices prior to entering the confined space
  • working in the confined space
  • using atmospheric monitoring devices during confined space activity
  • applying safe materials handling methods
  • exiting the confined space
  • remove tagging and lock out
  • identifying areas that constitute confined spaces
  • complying with site and equipment safety requirements
  • complying with the entry and exit procedures, risks and regulations
  • types of air contaminants and toxic gases
  • identifying the limitations of breathing apparatus
  • identifying equipment types, characteristics, technical capabilities and limitations
  • complying with site isolation and site control responsibilities and authorities
  • locations of safety data sheets (SDS) information and application
  • using confined space and Industry terminology.
  • covers the skills and knowledge required to issue work permits. It covers an understanding of the permit system and the limitations of each permit, and making decisions regarding the need for and correct use of each permit. This unit includes the issue of any and all permits. Permits are called ‘clearances’ by some organisations
