Our hybrid program allows you to complete theory online. You will then come into the school for your hands on training. Our challenging curriculum will prepare you for the Oregon license exam. Our curriculum uses only FDA approved devices and prepares our students to hit the ground running.
Since 1985 we have been training industry professionals in Advanced Aesthetics, and now more than ever the growth of the industry is at a boom. The medical esthetics field is increasing by a projected 57.2% between 2012 and 2020, according to the Oregon Employment Department.
This course is designed for the licensed esthetician or medical professional who is looking to expand into the Advanced esthetics field. This career path can take you into medi spas, plastic surgeons’ and dermatologists’ offices, or even your own private practices.

In 1985, Cynthia Mendoza felt that the curriculum for esthetics and nail service was lacking in technology, practical skills, and the sciences. So, with hopes of advancing the profession, she opened the Oregon College of Electrology and Thermology in downtown Portland.
After opening a satellite college in Spain, the school’s name was changed to the International College of Electrology and Thermology. Years later, the college moved to its current location in southeast Portland and became the Aesthetics Institute.
The facility has more than 5,000 square feet of classrooms, instructional areas, testing area, private treatment rooms, body treatment areas, and offices.
The Esthetician program consists of 1000 hours of theory and practical training in the arts and sciences of facials, make-up applications, body treatments, hair removal, retailing, equipment care, business management, and more.
My commitment is to offer training that will give students long rewarding careers. Feeling accomplished is not something that can be given but must be earned and my goal is to give every student the opportunity and education to know how that feels.
