The Manila Amendments to the STCW Code make it mandatory for certain parts of Advanced Fire Fighting to be refreshed ashore even for mariners that have sufficient sea time to renew their credentials.
Seafarers previously qualified in accordance with Section A-VI/3, paragraph 4 of the STCW Code in advanced fire fighting who shall be required, every five years, to provide evidence in accordance with paragraph 5 of Section A-VI/3 of the STCW Code 2011 Edition.
Any applicant who completes this course will satisfy: The Advanced Fire Fighting training requirements of Section A-VI/3, paragraph 5 and Table A-VI/3 of the STCW Code, as amended, provided that have previously met the requirements of Section A-VI/3, paragraph 4 of the STCW Code, as amended. This course is designed to ensure the seafarer maintains the required standard of competence of Table A-VI/3, in the following areas:
Examination, Practical Evaluation and Assessment: Written examination – 20 questions. Student must respond with 70% correct answers to obtain a satisfactory score.
