This course will provide participants with an understanding of weight and balance principles. Become familiar with the terminology used in load planning and appreciate the consequences of an overweight or out-of-balance aircraft. Learn how aircraft weight is calculated, how to communicate fuel figures, and the considerations of aircraft structural limitations. 

This is designed to provide an awareness and appreciation of weight and balance, ideal for those responsible for aircraft loading or turnaround management. Staff responsible for the creation and calculation of load plans and load sheets will require further training. 

Our course content is aligned to the requirements of the IATA AHM Chapter 11 – Ground Operations Training Program.

By the end of this course participants will be able to:

  • Identify basic fuel, weight and balance terminology used in load planning.
  • Recognise the importance of accuracy in weight and balance calculations.
  • Explain the elements that build up aircraft weight calculations.

Assessments

This course contains a multiple choice quiz which is completed online and graded immediately with a passing score of 80%.

This course is designed for employees who work in airport ground operational roles. For example:

Validity

Recurrent training should be completed within 36 months. 

In the event of long term absence, employees may be required to complete this course at more regular intervals.
