Analysis and Planning of Investment Projects in the Energy Sector

The energy sector plays an important role in the African economies as most of the countries are highly dependent on oil imports, the population makes use of wood fuels to a large extent for cooking and electricity supply is underdeveloped.

Major issues in the energy sector include excessive control on imports by the refinery shareholders, continued subsidy to the refinery shareholders, lack of competition in product marketing, increasing depletion of forestry resources, limited access to power supply and the high cost of electric power and petroleum products.
