History Timeline
Although we have come a long way from humble beginnings, our vision to support people to be healthier and happier wherever they live, work or learn remains unchanged. You can follow our journey of the last 29 years by scrolling through the timeline below.
1992-1995
Established in 1992 by a small group of local women in the Royston area of Glasgow who sought an alternative to prescription drugs as a means of reducing stress and tackling mental health concerns.
1996
Royston Stress Centre became incorporated as a company limited by guarantee and registered as a charity.
1997-1998
Secured a new sevice level agreement with the NHS to establish and manage Possil Stress Centre in the North of Glasgow.
1999-2006
Continued to expand our service delivery area and further develop services to encompass new client groups.
2007
Secured funding through the Big Lottery Fund to support growing service delivery.
2008
Tendered and secured contracts to deliver a range of stress management services across the city of Glasgow.
2009
Merged with Maryhill and Possil Stress Centres and rebranded as Lifelink.
2010-2011
Introduced a holistic service model.
Launched a computerised client management system.
Developed a 5-year business plan detailing organisational and service restructure.
2012
Tendered and secured Glasgow citywide contracts.
Expanded into a new market offering employee counselling services.
2013-2014
Secured funding to support website and service software developments.
Secured community based youth contract to complement school services.
Recruited additional strategic board members to enhance board skills set.
2015
Tendered and retained Scottish Prison Service contracts.
Implemented a transformational change programme to support a sustainable future for Lifelink.
Expanded contracted delivery to include West Dunbartonshire schools.
Opened new head office on the South side of Glasgow and implemented rebranding.
Secured IIP accreditation.
Awarded Hilton Glasgow’s Charity of the Year for the Youth Service.
2016
Contracted tendered and retained for Glasgow Citywide Adult contract.
Recruited additional strategic board members to enhance board skill set.
Secured IIP Young People Accreditation demonstrating a commitment to engaging young people.
Tendered and secured Renfrewshire schools contract.
Tendered and retained Glasgow schools contract.
2017
Celebrated 25 years delivering positive mental health and wellbeing support in Scotland.
Secured IIP Silver status.
Upgraded client management system to include the use of tablets.
Tendered and secured distress brief intervention contract in North Lanarkshire.
2018
Rebranded as Lifelink.
Celebrated our 25 year anniversary by releasing a promotional video charting our journey through the years.
Finalist in the Demonstrating Digital category of the Scottish Charity Awards.
Finalist in the Fair Work Category of the Glasgow Business Awards.
Lifelink is named business of the year at the Association of Scottish Businesswomen Awards.
2019
Winner of the Fair Work (51+ Employees) Category at the Glasgow Business Awards 2019
Nominated as a finalist in the SME National Business Awards Not for Profit Business of the Year category.
2020
2021
Our chief executive, Jacqui Taylor, was shortlisted as a finalist in the Most Inspiring Senior Leader of the Year category at The Great British Workplace Wellbeing Awards.
Lifelink became an ISO9001 accredited organisation.
2022
We launched a Lifelink business service to bring mental health support and wellbeing to a corporate environment. This would eventually transition into the Lifelink Workwell brand.
2023
After many years of being a Living Wage employer, Lifelink additionally committed to becoming a Living Hours employer.
We became a committed disability confident employer, allowing us to recruit from the widest possible pool of talent.
The Distress Brief Intervention service, which Lifelink is a founding partner of, reached the amazing milestone of 50,000 referrals!
2024
We continue to look to the future and the opportunities we have to develop and grow Lifelink as a social enterprise.
