Course Details

Animation is a medium, not a genre! This course will give a deep grounding in the methods and principles of traditional animation.

Throughout this class you will view short films, experiment with a variety of materials, participate in group discussions, and create a number of short films of your own devising.

What you will learn in this course:

  •  Expanded knowledge of the medium of animation and all its potential.
  •  Understanding of the technical processes involved in creating stop-frame and cell-based animation.
  • Ability to analyze movement and convey emotion and meaning through a series of drawings.
  • Grounding in the process of creating a finished work from start to finish. This process will include idea gathering, writing, storyboarding, roughs, iteration, finals, and critique
