Course Details

The Leader in Adult Care standard will develop your knowledge skills and behaviours within a general care home manager role.

You will be able to guide and inspire teams to make positive differences to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional, psychological or intellectual challenges.

You will be a leader of the care team and will develop and implement a value-based culture at a service or unit level. You will learn how to develop your leadership and management skills, as well as how to become an important role-model for others, inspiring staff and raising aspirations.

You will be able to respond to drivers in Adult Care, through strong leadership, a care-inspired value base, innovation and business insight.

During your time as a learner and thereafter, you will develop your reflective skills, implement changes that improve experiences and outcomes for individuals, and lead others within your service.

You will develop key skills and knowledge in areas such as Business Development, Financial Control, Organisational Resilience and Continuity, as well as Risk Management and Leading organisational change.

Entry Requirements

  • You are the current manager of a community or residential based service i.e. registered manager, deputy or assistant manager

  • Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and Maths. There is also the opportunity to study for English and Maths qualifications if you do not already hold them at the required level

  • A clear Disclosure and Barring (DBS) certificate
