Starting a career in hairdressing will give you the opportunity to be creative since styles are always changing. Even though the main focus is hair, you also get to meet new people and make them feel good by changing the way they look.
Africa Skills and Michelangelo Hair Academy creates a professional environment where learners can feel safe to learn in a stress-free setting. The purpose is to provide excellent training for aspiring hairdressing professionals. Our training involves theory at Michelangelo Hair Academy, and practicals where you can work in a salon of your own choice.
The model of training we established is different from the normal setting:
The learner will attend training at Michelangelo Hair Academy, in Mossel Bay, one day per week for theoretical and practical training;
The learner will work four to five days per week in an approved Hairdressing Salon where they will keep a record of their hours worked;
The learner must accumulate 3,900 hours of practical work under a qualified Hairdresser;
Monthly visits by a Workplace Manager will be done, to ensure compliance with the contract;
The learner can apply for a formal Trade Test after receipt of their NQF level 4 Certificate and at least 3,900 hours in the workplace.
The 3-year NQF 4 Hairdressing course costs R95,000 (kit included).

Africa Skills offers a selection of accredited learning programmes to develop the skills of your employees/colleagues and to assist with building their career paths. Our accreditation status as a Private Technical and Vocational Training College is monitored and audited by various SETAs and the Department of Higher Education & Training (DHET).
Skills Development training is the development opportunity which the employer provides to employees in the workplace. Africa Skills can assist you in benefiting from all the advantages of skills development training in South Africa, funding and levies.
Following registration of a Learnership Agreement with the SETA, the employer is eligible for a tax incentive from SARS.
The purpose is to provide excellent, world-class training to aspiring hairdressing professionals, setting each student up for local and international success in this field.

You will acquire the knowledge of styling, analysis, hair care and treatment of ethnic hairs, you will also learn how to use hair extensions to create various hair styles like box braids, cornrows, twists, straight back etc.?
This Level enables learners to develop the skills required to become professional hairdressers. This is the first of three levels of which culminate in a professional hairdressing qualification.
