Course Details

Supervisors of Type 3 asbestos abatement work are required to be certified to perform their supervisory role. They must successfully complete the in-school training component of the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) approved Asbestos Abatement Supervisor Training Program 253S and pass the MLITSD Asbestos Abatement Supervisor test.

 

Program Content

This IHSA course covers the mandatory in-school component of the program requirements. Upon successful completion of the course, supervisors will be able to write the MLITSD Asbestos Abatement Supervisor test administered by a MLITSD-recognized test administrator.

 

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who supervises asbestos abatement work.

 

Prerequisites

Mandatory prerequisites for the in-school training component of the Asbestos Abatement Supervisor program are:

  • Certification in the MLITSD Asbestos Abatement Worker 253W program

  • Completion of IHSA's Basics of Supervising course or proof of completion of an equivalent formal construction supervisor course having a minimum duration of 12 hours of lesson time.

 

Personal Protective Equipment / What to bring

Participants must wear appropriate clothing and bring valid photo ID.

 

Learning Evaluation

At the end of the program, a performance evaluation (test) shall be administered to determine the comprehension and information retention level of the participant.

The trainee must acquire a minimum score of 70%. Successful completion of the in-school component of the Asbestos Abatement Supervisor Program will be acknowledged by a certificate/wallet card.
