Participants will gain an understanding of the risks posed by asbestos and asbestos containing materials and how to work safely in areas which may be suspected or confirmed of containing asbestos.
Legislation requires Persons Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU) to control and manage the exposure to asbestos in the workplace. This duty includes the requirements relating to identifying, documenting, recording and managing asbestos.
Participants will gain an understanding of the risks posed by asbestos and asbestos containing materials and how to work safely in areas which may be suspected or confirmed of containing asbestos.
Please note this Asbestos Awareness session DOES NOT COVER any employee who is required to undertake asbestos work in the ACT.
The regulation mandates a specific training course – the VET course Asbestos Awareness (10314NAT). From 1 July, 2014 only training in this course will meet the requirements of the regulation.

This nationally accredited course covers the skills and knowledge required to operate excavator operations to lift carry and replace materials.
Current Work Health and Safety (WHS) Legislation requires all employees that either work in the construction industry or enter any building or construction-site are to be trained in WHS in the workplace.
This course provides participants with the required skills and knowledge to enable them to safely perform intermediate scaffolding work in a variety of situations in compliance with Work Safe WA Licencing Requirements, Industry Standards and OSH Regulations.
