Asbestos exposure can cause a number of deadly diseases and they can take a long time to develop—up to 40 years. Asbestos-related diseases are the #1 cause of work-related death for people who have worked in Ontario construction. If you work in the building trades, then you may be exposed to asbestos.
This program teaches participants how to identify locations where asbestos may be present and find sections of the asbestos regulation that deal with the classification of asbestos work.
Course Objectives
An awareness of hazards of asbestos
An awareness of the health effects of asbestos exposure, and enable workers to protect themselves and others
Familiarization of the Regulations that apply to this hazard
Understanding the purpose of the Asbestos Management Program
An understanding of Friable, Potentially Friable and Non Friable Asbestos
