Assertion At Work Training Course
We have probably all wished we had handled situations and people differently on occasion by being more assertive. This 1 Day Course looks at how to communicate in a direct and effective manner, overcoming self-defeating behaviour and being able to say NO comfortably in a manner that demonstrates self-respect and respect for others.
We will explore how to develop a stronger influence over others, using constructive behaviours in the face of negative attitudes in a positive and appropriate communication style which is straightforward rather than aggressive or submissive.
At the end of the course delegates will be able to
• Define what is meant by assertive, aggressive, submissive behaviour
• Recognise own styles and behaviours with associated strengths and liabilities
• Identify the role of rights and responsibilities in assertive behaviour
• Apply the concept of assertiveness to typical workplace situations:
- Giving and receiving constructive feedback
- Asking and refusing requests assertively
- Handling difficult people, awkward situations and confrontation
