It's an ideal first step to help you decide if teaching is for you and will give you the foundations to progress your studies onto a certificate in education (teacher training).
What will I study?
Cognitive behaviour and how students learn
Adaptations of learning using differentiation of resources
Planning a lesson and scheme of learning
Engaging and motivating students
Planning assessments
Recording and monitoring assessments
You will also be expected to plan a lesson (Microteach) and will be observed by tutor and peers in order to be assessed as part of meeting the course criteria.
Entry requirements
An interest in teaching and learning
Have or be working towards achieving a Literacy Level 2
Good knowledge of ICT (preferably Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint)
The confidence to study Level 3 course.
