Graduate sooner with our Bachelor of Accounting – from 2024 there is an option to fast-track your study and complete this degree in 2 years full-time, if studying over 6 consecutive trimesters.

You’ll develop your professional identity through confident communication skills, enabling you to deliver specialist advice and decisions to diverse stakeholders.

Build technical and professional knowledge and skills in financial and management accounting, auditing, information technology, taxation, business law, and ethics.

Become a future-focused accounting professional by evaluating the use of digital technologies to support current and future business processes.

Complement your accounting courses with an 8-unit major from the Bachelor of Business, or select minors and electives, to tailor your finance career to your interests. Why not develop your professional and technical advice skills through the Tax Practitioner minors, or study a Finance major?

Work alongside industry partners on real-world issues through a variety of authentic case studies, as well as a capstone project in your final year.

We offer our accounting courses online or on-campus, so you have the flexibility to study while balancing work and family commitments, from wherever and whenever it suits you.

The Bachelor of Accounting is accredited with CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). Graduates that complete the four units of core courses and 12 Professional Accounting major courses will meet the educational entrance requirements of CPA and CAANZ. This provides Associate membership of CPA Australia, eligibility to study the CPA Australia professional exams, and eligibility to study the CAANZ professional exams.

Students who successfully complete the 4-unit Tax Practitioner minor will meet the education requirements of the Tax Practitioners Board. Note that there are also professional work experience requirements to register as a tax agent.

Finance major graduates will meet the educational entrance requirements to become a member of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA).

 

Career Outcomes:

  • Graduates are equipped to use their critical and reflective thinking skills as well as financial expertise to contribute to a range of organisational outcomes.
  • You will graduate as a qualified accountant able to pursue a career as a as a financial accountant, auditor, business advisor, CFO, management accountant, forensic accountant, tax advisor. These careers can be found in a wide range of organisations and industries such as public and private practise, financial institutions, and government.

 

Pre-requisites:

  • To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:
  • English (Units 3 & 4, C), and
  • General Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C)
  • We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12). 
  • Special entry schemes for admissions may increase your Rank, through the allocation of additional points in certain circumstances, such as educational disadvantage where you live, and subjects you passed.
