Psychology is the study of human behaviour and mental processes, encompassing many aspects of human behaviour from individual differences in personality and intelligence, to emotions, motivations, memory, thought processes and interpersonal relationships.
As an applied discipline, it is aligned to a professional career as a “Psychologist”.
A Psychology Degree programme equips students with broad theoretical and practical knowledge of Psychology, as well as job-ready skills in analysis, writing, research, communication and teamwork.
At Murdoch University, our Degree programme goes a step further, integrating the established basis of psychological knowledge and methods of investigation, with the latest developments in the field.
It also allows students to enhance their learning by studying minors in related areas such as Criminal Psychology, Human Resources and Ethics as well.
With a Psychology Degree, you will be well-versed in human cognition and motivations, and capable of exploring the wide range of career opportunities in this diverse field.
Students have the option to enrol in either Single or Double Majors.
Graduation & Degree Awarded
Students who successfully complete and pass the units stipulated in the programme structure will be awarded the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Murdoch University, Australia.
The Degree will be the same as that awarded to the on-campus graduates in Australia.
Career Opportunities
Entry Requirements
Applicants with a Polytechnic Diploma may be exempted from up to 12 units and can gain entry to Year 2 of the programme. Applicants with a Murdoch University-recognised Kaplan Diploma or a private Diploma may be exempted from up to 8 units and can also gain entry to Year 2 of the programme.
The Bachelor’s Degree programme accepts a wide range of qualifications with advanced standing.
English Requirement
Applicants are required to meet the University’s English language requirement:
An approved Diploma qualification or higher, where the language of instruction was English, OR
GCE O-Level English Language or Literature in English with Grade C or better; OR
IELTS 6.0 (with no band below 6.0)*; OR
Kaplan Diploma in Professional Business English (PBEP) with a score of 75% (Distinction) or higher*; OR
Any other equivalent English language qualification.

The Graduate Diploma in Applied Positive Psychology is designed to educate students on psychology and more specifically on positive psychology at a graduate level. This program looks deeper into practicality and applications.
The Specialist Diploma in Applied Psychology aims to equip the individual with the core concept of psychology theories with in-depth grounding of the main foundational components in psychology.
This is a 12-month Advanced Diploma in Psychology (ADIP) part-time programme covering a range of theoretical, analytical, conceptual and functional skills in psychology.
The course aims to foster the development of research, professional skills and a commitment to ethical behaviour. This graduate diploma in psychology program is for students who have a basic degree, but not in the relevant field of study required for a career in psychology.
In this programme, you will learn about the major fields of Psychology at advanced levels. Areas include the application of Psychology to facilitate individual, family and organisational changes, advanced psychological assessment, preparation for graduate diploma study and the research project.
