Course Details

The Bachelor of Building and Project Management (BBPM) programme is a partnership programme between the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and the BCA Academy (BCAA). The programme equips students with a repertoire of specialist knowledge and skills for a productive management of construction projects. 

Students will be trained in a broad spectrum of competencies including interdisciplinary studies in building design and technology, construction management, international project management, cost management, contract administration, safety management and sustainability.

Accreditation & Recognition

  • The BBPM degree is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), UK, and the Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (SISV). These are renowned global or Singapore professional institutions and their accreditations signify that the degree meets the relevant education standard to be eligible as a member.
  • As part of the concerted effort to enhance the quality of the profession in the built environment sector, firms wanting to provide consultancy services for public sector building and construction projects must meet listing requirement in The Public Sector Panels of Consultants (PSPC). The BBPM degree is also recognised for Quantity Surveying (QS) discipline by Public Sector Panels of Consultants (PSPC).

Programme Structure

  • The Bachelor of Building and Project Management programme is designed to meet the academic requirements for professional recognition. It is also intentionally positioned to be applied and practically relevant.

To graduate with a basic degree, students are required to complete 130 credit units (cu), which include:

  • 20 cu of SUSS Core courses
  • 60 cu of Major Compulsory courses
  • 20 cu of Major Elective courses (Students to choose 1 Major Elective basket)
  • 30 cu of Free Electives

All courses are 5 cu unless stated otherwise. Students choosing Major Elective Basket 3 are highly advised to sign up for QSM302 Construction Measurement (4 of 4) Specialist Work using their Free Electives. Students who completed and passed all 4 QSM courses will be awarded a Certificate of Measurement of Building Works awarded by Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (SISV).

Students who have little to no experiences in the Construction Industry are highly recommended to take Interdisciplinary Studies in Construction (BPM101) as a Free Elective. They are also encouraged to take up Materials Technology (BPM115) as a Free Elective if they are choosing Major Elective Basket 3.

The curriculum is structured such that:

  • Level 1 consists of foundational building and project management courses such as interdisciplinary studies in construction, construction technology and construction IT & building information modeling.
  • Level 2 consists of core building and project management courses such as productivity management, procurement management and cost management.
  • Level 3 consists of advanced building and project management courses such as life-cycle costing & sustainable design and construction and project development & finance and project scheduling & control.
