Overview:

  • Take control of business finances with UniSQ’s Bachelor of Business majoring in Finance. Learn about the financial side of running a business, managing money and how companies create value for their shareholders.
  • Explore the fundamentals of financial environments and modern analytical techniques, learning the ins and outs of business finance, personal financial planning, financial policy, foreign exchange risk, asset selection, stockbroking, investment management, international financial management and financial economics.
  • Get a bachelor degree in two years from 2024. Study via UniSQ's accelerated pathway option for business (full-time study for six consecutive trimesters) and graduate sooner. Alternatively, you can study full-time over three years or enrol part-time and balance study with work or family commitments.
  • Our flexible delivery allows you to study finance courses online wherever it suits you, or on-campus in Toowoomba or Springfield.
  • Delve further into the financial space by combining your Finance major with our Tax Practitioner and/or Economics minor, or expand your business knowledge with a second 8-uni major from the Bachelor of Business or another approved bachelor degree.

  • Graduates of the Finance major have the theoretical knowledge, technical skills and ability to critically analyse information for a career in the finance industry in a fast-changing world.
  • Whether you've graduated from a Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Commerce (Finance), your career opportunities will include financial services, banker, insurance, funds manager, financial analyst, industrial analyst, investment analyst, investment banker, security analyst, underwriter, options/future trader, treasury, foreign exchange trader/officer, share trader, financial markets dealer, corporate secretary, foreign exchange dealer, risk manager, lending officer, finance officer, corporate or policy adviser, business consultant, financial advisor and market research officer.
  • Positions within government are in high demand. Career opportunities exist for finance graduates in the Department of Defence and in the field of financial crime; an emerging field with a focus on anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism and fraud.

 

Pre-requisites:

  • English (Units 3 & 4, C), and
  • General Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C)
  • We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12).
