Cyber Security is the practice of protecting electronic data systems from criminal or unauthorised attacks. Cyber Security serves as a preventative measure to defend confidential data and protect data processes and procedures from unwanted breaches. 

Cyber Security has become an increasingly important field within the business world, with governments acknowledging the significant threat cyber-attacks pose. Cyber-attacks threaten everyone – individuals, organisations, and governments, so there is every indication that these threats will continue and increase in frequency and sophistication.

Course Learning Outcomes

The Bachelor of Cyber Security includes the following Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) embedded into the Units of study.

  • CLO 1 Design and analyse robust systems that incorporate security best practices throughout the entire model
  • CLO 2 Use research skills to critically evaluate existing cyber security knowledge and practices to explore contemporary and future ICT landscapes for vulnerabilities and cyber threats
  • CLO 3 Apply creative thinking to core ICT concepts
  • CLO 4 Communicate ICT concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • CLO 5 Function effectively and work collaboratively as an ICT team member
  • CLO 6 Apply ethical principles to the security and handling of data and information
  • CLO 7 Apply independent analysis of cyber security problems to develop optimal solutions to solve problems relating to cyber threats
  • CLO 8 Identify issues impacting the wider information technology landscape to architect cyber security solutions to these issues
  • CLO 9 Continue learning and maintain currency of knowledge as the field of computing continues to develop and innovate
  • CLO 10 Apply organisational and business knowledge to applications within the field of ICT
  • CLO 11 Assess and evaluate cyber and physical systems in order to determine risks, threats, and vulnerabilities that significantly impact society at large
  • CLO 12 Demonstrate understanding of the SFIA Foundation Skills Framework for the Information Age at Level 4

Course Entry Criteria

  • In order to qualify for entry to the Bachelor of Data Science applicants must meet the course entry criteria as prescribed. International students who’s first language is not English must also meet the English Proficiency Requirements. Please refer to the prescribed course Entry Requirements.

Scholarships

  • Eligible students may be offered one of ADCI’s scholarships upon successful application to their chosen course. 

Orientation

  • The Student Services team facilitates orientation, and all students must attend before commencing studies each semester.
  • International students are warmly welcomed at ADCI. A separate International Student Orientation, which is also compulsory for all international students commencing each semester, is designed to cater to the unique needs of our international student community.
  • Orientation will allow students to meet key staff members and fellow students and receive vital information to ensure their success while studying at ADCI and living in Perth.
  • Orientation Sessions are held the week before the commencement of each semester and are comprised of the following topics:
  • Information about the chosen course of study (Requirements and Expectations)
  • Meet the Academic Director and Lecturers
  • Student Services Information (ID Cards, Support Services, etc.)
  • Introduction to ADCI’s Learning Management System (Canvas)
  • Campus Tour (Facilities, Classrooms, etc.)
  • Information and Support about Living in Australia
  • Information about ADCI’s Policies and Procedures
  • Additional Services and Resources (IT Support, etc.)
