The interior architecture and design degree program prepares students for practice at a variety of design firms through a sequence of studio, lab, and lecture classes where they address the design of diversified typologies of interior environments in the commercial and residential sectors: hospitality, healthcare, retail, workspaces, community and public spaces, transit spaces, and exhibit and temporary spaces.

NewSchool students are innovative designers who are passionate about pursuing exciting careers in the fields of architecture, design, and construction management. From the first day of class, students explore and break through creative boundaries, while hands-on experiences provide the foundation and tools necessary to grow and succeed as a designer.
Through the exploration of the art and architecture of environmental design, students solve problems in a broad range of built environments. Students work closely with faculty in a studio environment similar to the professional design office experience.
The bachelor's degree prepares students to practice interior design and to be eligible after two years of work experience to sit for the professional certification exam (NCIDQ).
Accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), the BFA curriculum emphasizes human-centered and evidence-based design that, through advanced research methods, addresses current social concerns, ergonomics, and sustainability.
Interior design is defined as the professional and comprehensive practice of creating an interior environment that addresses, protects, and responds to human need(s).
As a student in the Interior Design Program, you’ll receive one-on-one attention from instructors who are highly qualified working industry professionals.
