Course Details

  • Have you ever wondered how your favourite video games are developed? As a software developer and computer programmer, you can help turn an idea into a video or mobile game. With increasing opportunities in this growing industry, you will gain the skills needed to work in both the international games industry and information technology industry.
  • In this Degree programme, you will learn games software design and the development and processes involved in creating computer, mobile and video games. You will also explore 3D graphics and animation, games software design, games mechanics, games software development and production, user interface design for games, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and interaction design.
  • In the final year of your programme, you will take part in an IT Professional Practice Project module. This includes working in a team with other students and consulting with real clients to recommend, develop and implement new technologies to solve business problems.

Students have the option to enrol in either Single or Double Majors.

Graduation & Degree Awarded

  • Students who successfully complete and pass the modules stipulated in the programme structure will be awarded the Bachelor of Information Technology in Games Software Design and Production and Computer Science from Murdoch University, Australia.
  • The Degree will be the same as that awarded to the on-campus graduates in Australia.

Students are required to complete the following common units:

  • Applicants may be required to complete general elective units to fulfil the required credit points.
  • 23-year Polytechnic Diploma holders are exempted, subject to University’s approval.

Assessment 

Each unit is assessed by any combination of class participation, examinations, presentations, projects, or written assignments. Assessment methods may vary according to individual unit requirements.

Delivery Mode
Part-time Programme

  • Students will attend a combination of lectures, tutorials, and workshops in this programme, and they have the flexibility to plan their study schedule and attend classes once or twice a week depending on their study load. Classes are conducted online and face-to-face (blended learning) on weekday evenings or weekends to suit the busy schedules of students enrolled in this programme. Lectures are recorded to give students extra academic support and enhance their learning experience.
  • The Pro Vice-Chancellor of Transnational Education and Singapore Dean at Murdoch University is based in Singapore to oversee all academic aspects and to ensure a high standard of academic delivery.

Full-time Programme

  • Students will attend a combination of lectures, tutorials, and workshops in this programme, and they have the flexibility to plan their study schedule based on their study load. Students are expected to be on campus for classes, self-study, and workshops. Lectures are recorded to give students extra academic support and enhance their learning experience.

Admission Criteria

Academic Requirements

  • Applicants with a Polytechnic Diploma may be exempted from up to 12 units and can gain entry to Year 2 of the programme. Applicants with a Murdoch University-recognised Kaplan Diploma or a private Diploma may be exempted from up to 8 units and can also gain entry to Year 2 of the programme.

This Degree programme accepts a wide range of qualifications, which include:

  • Kaplan Diploma; OR
  • Polytechnic Diploma; OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications awarded by other Singapore-registered private education institutions.
  • Applicants admitted to the programme may be required to undertake bridging modules to fulfil the prerequisite knowledge.

English Language Requirements

  • An approved Diploma qualification or higher, where the language of instruction was English, OR
  • GCE O-Level English Language or Literature in English with Grade C or better; OR
  • IELTS 6.0 (with no band below 6.0); OR
  • Kaplan Diploma in Professional Business English (PBEP) with a score of 75% (Distinction) or higher; OR
  • Any other equivalent English language qualification.
