PEO
The Programme Educational Objectives stated below are the specific goals of the programme, consistent with the mission of Manipal International University, and are responsive to the expressed interest of the Mechanical Engineering Programme. The statement describes what mechanical engineering students are expected to attain certain key attributes within 3-5 years of graduation.
Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) Statements
A few years after graduations, the students should turn out to be:
- PEO 1: Competent graduates who can apply mechanical engineering knowledge in practice
- PEO 2: Graduates who can communicate effectively, demonstrate leadership skills, and exhibit a high degree of professionalism
- PEO 3: Graduates who are environmentally conscious and possess entrepreneurial skills
- PEO 4: Graduates who embark on life-long learning for career advancement
PLO
Programme Learning Outcomes (PLO) are the statements that describe what students are expected to attain by the time of graduation. These relate to the knowledge, skills, and attitude that students acquire throughout the duration of programme. The list of PLOs for the Department of Mechanical Engineering in accordance with EAC Manual 2020 are given below:
Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) Statements
At the end of the learning process, students are expected to be able to:
- PLO 1: Engineering Knowledge – Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialisation to the solution of complex engineering problems. WK1 – WK4
- PLO 2: Problem Analysis – Identify, formulate, conduct research literature and analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences. WK1 – WK4
- PLO 3: Design / Development of Solutions – Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design systems, components, or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations. WK5
- PLO 4: Investigation – Conduct investigation of complex engineering problems using research-based knowledge (WK8) and research methods including design of experiments, analysis, and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions. WK8
- PLO 5: Modern Tool Usage – Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modelling, to complex engineering activities, with an understanding of the limitations; WK6
