Course Details

This bachelor of nursing science (honours) programme will prepares the graduate with knowledge and skills to provide a holistic approach to the nursing profession. The programme promotes, expands and validates scientific knowledge and evidence-based practice through nursing and interdisciplinary research. 

The graduates are eligible to sit for Nursing Board Malaysia (NBM) licensing examination to become a qualified registered nurse.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

On completion of the programme, the graduate will be able to:

  • PEO 1: Apply knowledge of nursing science to promote, maintain and restore health to individuals, families and communities;
  • PEO 2: Demonstrate skilled nursing care using nursing process;
  • PEO 3: Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills in nursing practice;
  • PEO 4: Practice interpersonal communication skills effectively in a multi-disciplinary healthcare team and in the community;
  • PEO 5: Function effectively in a team and demonstrate understanding of the societal as well as advocate responsibility for their own health.;
  • PEO 6: Demonstrate commitment and accountability for professional ethics in nursing practice;
  • PEO 7: Integrate the significance of research for evidence base nursing practice and for self-awareness in continuous professional development and lifelong learning;
  • PEO 8: Demonstrate managerial skills and entrepreneurship capabilities in nursing;
  • PEO 9: Practise effective leadership skills to improve quality nursing care to maintain high competency among healthcare team.

Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

In five (4) years of graduation, students will achieve the following Programme Educational Objectives (PEO):

  • PLO 1: Acquire basic mastery knowledge, cognitive skills and practical skills needed to be a competent and innovative nurse.
  • PLO 2: Effectively lead team with leadership, interpersonal and communication skills to support their roles in the health care industry.
  • PLO 3: Solve nursing challenges by committing towards the importance of lifelong learning and continuous improvement using digital and numeracy skills.
  • PLO 4: Acquire ethics and professionalism in fulfilling social responsibility.
  • PLO 5: Demonstrate capability of embarking on business and techno-preneurial activities for a successful career advancement in nursing.
