With a 50% hands-on learning approach1, you will learn how to utilise databases and analytical tools like the Relational Model, PostgreSQL and Tableau to identify insights and trends that benefit businesses and drive positive change in diverse fields.

Graduation & Degree Awarded

  • Students who successfully complete and pass the modules stipulated in the programme structure will be awarded the Bachelor of Science (Honours) Data Science and Analytics from University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom.
  • The Degree will be the same as that awarded to the on-campus graduates in the United Kingdom.

Assessment & Exams

  • Each module is assessed by any combination of written coursework, project, presentation or examination. Assessment methods may vary according to individual module requirements and can take the form of individual or group work.

Delivery

Part-time Programme

  • Each term is a 12-week period covering 2 modules. Classes are conducted on weekday evenings and weekends. They can be organised as lectures, tutorials or practical in the labs and delivered in blended mode.
  • The actual cycle may vary depending on the nature of the programme and class scheduling. The University and Kaplan reserve the rights to alter the learning cycle, days and timing of the programme, if necessary.

Full-time Programme

  • Each term is a 12-week period covering 2 modules. Classes are conducted during the day on weekdays. They can be organised as lectures, tutorials or practicals in the labs. Students are expected to be on campus for classes, workshops and self-study.
  • The actual cycle may vary depending on the nature of the programme and class scheduling. The University and Kaplan reserve the rights to alter the learning cycle, days and timing of the programme, if necessary.

Academic Requirements
This Degree programme accepts the following qualifications, which includes:

  • Polytechnic Diploma
  • Kaplan Diploma
  • Other private Diplomas and/or foreign qualifications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis

Applicants admitted to the programme may be required to undertake bridging modules to fulfil the required prerequisite knowledge.

English Language Requirements

  • IELTS score of 6.0, with no component less than 5.5 OR
  • Successful completion of an approved Diploma qualification or higher, where the language of instruction was English can be considered
  • Applicants are required to meet the University’s English language requirement. 

In all cases, the final decision on admission to the programme rests with the University.

Working Experience

  • When required, work experience will apply as part of the admissions process. Applicants seeking recognition of experiential learning are required to provide a portfolio of evidence in accordance with the University’s Recognition of Prior Learning policies and practices. Any assessment on work experience and decisions on related admissions will be conducted by the University and will, where appropriate, lead to the recognition of the achievement of learning outcomes and the award of the University Credit.
