Bachelor of Technology Degree in Cybersecurity

The bachelor of technology degree in cybersecurity is designed to provide in-depth study in several areas of the cybersecurity domain, such as computer networking, computer programming, information security, web development, database development, and digital and mobile forensics. The program offers the range and depth of course work to enable graduates to enter directly into the field of cybersecurity, or to pursue graduate study. 

Furthermore, this program has an applied learning component that gives students real-world experience, using forensic tools and applications.

Program Highlights

• The BT aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of skills in the areas of computer networking, ethical hacking, digital forensics, and database and web development
• Students learn to ethically and creatively apply technology necessary to perform a range of coveted professional services
• The program is designed to combat and mitigate the expected growth of cybercrimes and cyberterrorism across personal, professional, and national levels
• Successful graduates will be prepared to enter the workforce as cybersecurity professionals in law enforcement, government, and/or business, and be prepared to pursue graduate study in cybersecurity or other fields
• This is the first BT in Cybersecurity offered in New York
• The program curriculum utilizes a significant catalog of available library resources the College projects to increase
• Enrolled students complete an internship to maximize applied, experiential learning
• Enrolled students earn expert academic and general guidance from faculty members throughout the course of study

What Will I Learn?

• In an applied setting, students will learn essential elements of cybersecurity, including computer networking, digital forensics, web development, and ethical hacking. Program coursework begins from an information technology perspective, spanning central concepts including software, hardware, operating systems, and computer networks. Higher-level study will focus on cybersecurity directly, introducing elements of forensics, ethical methods in system testing, and psychological concepts in information security. The program expands upon the College’s mission to provide education in the ethical creation and use of technology in professional service, as well as for personal use.

This correlates to the anticipated growth of cybercrimes, including cyberterrorism. In response to this projection, law enforcement, government, and business agencies are actively recruiting qualified cybersecurity professionals, to fill technician, analyst, and engineer positions. The transferability of skills cybersecurity professionals acquire supports additional employment opportunities in security consultation, risk management, and information technology.
