Our Ballroom & Latin program will give you the confidence to go anywhere and dance with any partner to almost any type of music.
A ballroom dance generally needs a larger space as the dances constantly move around the room. These dances have a multiple of personalities based on the music but generally glide effortlessly across the floor. The challenge for most is the added element of where you are in the room and ensuring that you are dancing with the flow ( a bit like driving on the road).
Our Ballroom & Latin program will give you the confidence to go anywhere and dance with any partner to almost any type of music. With these dances you'll be ready to strut your stuff with the best of them at your next social function, whether it's a wedding, a work function or simply a night out on the town with someone special.
Dance Generation's Ballroom & Latin syllabus is designed to give you a variety of dances that will enable you to enjoy yourself no matter what the occasion and include the following.
Foxtrot:
This is one of the easiest of all the dances to learn because of its relaxed and natural walking action. It's also one of the most versatile, so whether it's a big band playing a Fred and Ginger number, Country and Western music or even a lazy afternoon with a Jazz band you will be able to enjoy the Foxtrot.
Waltz:
A traditional favourite with Bridal Couples the Waltz continues to be a must for all good dancers. Its grace and poise captures the romance and elegance of good dancing. Fortunately for us dancers good Waltz music continues to be written even today.
Tango:
Referred to as "The Dancers Dance" the Tango continues to be a favourite amoungst our members. Its dramatic style and distinctive movements make it fun to learn and very appealing. The Tango is also excellent for developing good leading and following and is very sophisticated.
Quicksteps:
From the 1920's Charleston era with it's up beat, fast paced music this is a dance that will keep you fit. It has a light-hearted feel, moves very quickly across the floor and is characterised by hops, kicks and flicks. Very entertaining to watch and great fun to dance.
Viennese Waltz:
Another fast ballroom dance. This dance constantly turns alternating left and right rotating around the floor. Although originating with composers such as Strauss,
modern artists are still writing songs in this tempo. i.e. Christina Perri "A thousand Years", Kelly Clarkson "Breakaway", Jason Mraz "I won't give up" to name a few.?

Waltz Dance classes are offered by SA Ballroom & Latin Social Dance Studio. Originally a forbidden dance, the Waltz was the first dance that involved a couple dancing in close contact.
Your first dance should be memorable and emotionally touching. Historically, the wedding dance is symbolic of the consummation of a bridal couple's wedding vows and it marks your first cooperative engagement and joint endeavour.
