We offer Ballroom & Latin American training at all levels. We have fantastic Social classes where you can learn to dance for the pure enjoyment of it, and we also train some of South Africa’s best International competitors.

Course Details

Ballroom Dancing is sophisticated, classy and beautiful. Dances include the Waltz, Tango, Slow Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz and Quickstep.

Latin American Dancing is passionate, complex, sexy and exciting. Dances include the Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive.

We also teach Social Dances such as the Salsa, Mambo, Boogie, Bachata, American Smooth, East Coast Swing, Hustle and More!

It is preferable to have a partner, but it’s not essential. Single dancers have many interesting opportunities to compete, locally and internationally, and our Social classes are geared to accommodate single dancers as well as couples.

Having previously owned - together with Dave Campbell – Dancenter Ballroom and Latin American Studio in Johannesburg, Beverley decided to branch out into the Freestyle world.

Beverley danced with her partner, Dave Campbell, from the age of 13 and reached the Professional British, International and World Cup Finals, as well as being undefeated South African Ballroom and Latin American Champions.

Following her successful Ballroom and Latin career, it was quite a step to take on Freestyle!

After advertising in the Pretoria East Rekord newspaper, the first class started with 21 pupils ranging from 4-and-a-half to 16 years of age. In no time the classes were split into age groups and the rest is history!

In 2013 we opened a second branch in Centurion which is growing from strength to strength.

In recent years a few of our former pupils have qualified in other dance styles which prompted us to introduce Hip Hop, Contemporary, Acrobatics and Dancefit into the studio.

We are very proud of our teachers who have grown up in our studio and are now sharing their expertise and experience with the next generation. We are equally proud of the external teachers that have joined The Beverley Hammond Dance School family.

It is wonderful to have fresh and new ideas, as we constantly work to provide the best opportunities for our pupils.

Angelique Hammond has been dancing and entertaining audiences since the tender age of 3! • Experience in Ballet, Spanish, Freestyle, Latin American and Ballroom • Internationally qualified fitness instructor • Associate qualified in Freestyle (SADTA) Ryan and Angelique teamed up in 2015 and travelled the country performing and teaching. Together they are: • Undefeated All South African Open Professional Latin American Champions • World Exhibition Finalists • Rumba in the Jungle Professional Latin American Champions • Professionals on Dancing With The Stars SA 2018 For the past 10 months they have been touring the country with an exciting show called “Rhythm of the Night”, which will be coming to an end on 25 August at The Barnyard in Menlyn. If you haven’t seen it yet this is your very last chance! Ryan and Angelique believe everyone should dance at least once a week!
