This course aims to provide the nurses with the basic skills and knowledge in ECG monitoring, ECG rhythm interpretation, performing 12 lead ECG & monitoring patients on ambulatory monitoring (Telemetry). This course is organised by National Heart Centre Singapore.
Course Outline:
Describe the fundamentals of ECG which includes the anatomy and electrophysiology of the heart.
Interpret ECG rhythm and calculate heart rate.
Identify rhythm strips.
Outline the approach to rhythm analysis.
Identify and interpret atrial arrhythmias.
Identify and interpret Supraventricular/Junctional arrhythmias.
Identify and interpret Ventricular arrhythmias.
Identify and interpret AV conduction defects (1 AV Block, 2 AV Block and 3 AV Block).
Analyzed ECG rhythm.
Perform 12 Lead ECG.
Monitor patients on telemetry monitoring.

This program equips the participants with knowledge in heart physiology, characteristics of a normal ECG tracing and skills in ECG machine operation. The program is a mixture of theory and skills practice with ECG machines and simulators.
This course equips the participants with knowledge and skills in; basic functions the heart, principles of ECG operation, checking the ECG strips for errors in recording. Recognition of normal ECG wave vs. arrhythmia and AMI.
