This course teaches learners basic fire fighting skills; the use of fire extinguishers and other fire equipment in order to minimise loss of life and property at the workplace. It also covers basic fire prevention and awareness. It is the perfect course, for any organisation, to start off with.
This is a major threat for safety to prevent loss of life and/or destruction of property and the environment. All employees should undergo basic training of fire fighting techniques both general and specialized areas of expertise.
A learner credited with this unit standard will be capable of identifying, containing, preventing and extinguishing different types of fires by operating basic firefighting equipment.

A modular course for employees will be appointed as fire fighters and fire marshals within their workplace, so as to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
