Fire extinguisher training covers legislation, what is a fire, classification of fires, fire extinguishers, proper use of fire extinguishers, rules for fighting fires, maintenance of portable fire extinguishers, and a hands on demo & practice.
Recognized by the Canadian Fire Safety Association, this program will interest a wide range of participants from the building and fire industry who are involved with design, construction, safety, and security.
Basic Fire Fighting Skills Courses are offered by Manitoba's Emergency Services College.
This class is a four-hour program that covers the basic types of fires and the chemistry involved in the extinguishment of those fires. The students will be trained on how to inspect and use a handheld fire extinguisher on a live fire system.
The course will provide designated staff with sufficient understanding of fire, how to apply the emergency plan procedures, identify hazards and supervise the safe evacuation of company personnel.
In this course participants will go through a theory, short test as well as practical portion. During the practical we do have a simulator that we use for participants to practical how to clear a fire with an extinguisher.
