The course is designed to create a competency in every student before proceeding to the range where live ammunition and firearms are used. No one is ever forced to fire live rounds until he/she is confident and comfortable with the operation of a handgun and/or rifle.
DurationIn this course, each individual will learn the functions of, and how to operate a rifle, revolver, and/or semiautomatic handgun. This course has no live rounds. It is conducted with non-firing dummy guns and dummy rounds.

Students who do not illustrate competency and safety by the end of the class will not be allowed on the live range. Students who show safe firearm handling and competency with dummy guns will then get to shoot live rounds at the indoor range at Nashville Armory.
Rental firearms, ear protection, and eye protection will be provided. Ammunition can be purchased at the Armory and is the responsibility of the shooter. Must book 48 hours in advance.
Although it is our constitutional right to carry a firearm, too many people these days neglect the discipline required to exhibit self control, patience, and the ability to walk away especially in escalated situations.
It is our belief that permit holders should train as often as possible, and abstain from the use of alcohol, drugs, and other substances that impair the senses and could potentially cause unnecessary damage to individuals and/or property. We do not train to take life, but rather to protect life.
Whether you’ve never held a handgun or are a seasoned shooter, there are plenty of options available for use in this course. You are encouraged to use your own firearm but are welcome to use one of the various brands and calibers we have on site.
