This course highlights the significant technique and approach differences that exist between Health Professionals Basic Life Support and a non-clinical person for CPR.
DurationThis course is taught to the current New Zealand Standards for Health Professional Basic Life Support/CPR, and is suitable for authorised vaccinators, pharmacist vaccinators, nurses, radiographers, physiotherapists and other health professionals who do not require the more advanced courses available.
This course covers the following topics:
Patient Assessment
Airway Management
Adjuncts for Airway Management – Oro-pharyngeal and laryngeal mask airways
Management of choking for adults, children and infants
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
One person & two person CPR for adults, children and infants
Bag valve mask, mouth-to-mask and mouth-to-mouth ventilation
Oxygen use in resuscitation
Use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Management of Anaphylaxis
