The school is owned by Emma Hawkins, a qualified primary school teacher who wanted to combine her love of teaching with her passion for sewing and creativity. Emma has been dressmaking for over 30 years and has run a successful ballgown hire business designing.
And making ballgowns and wedding dresses from home. She has also worked as an assistant costumier with Teresa Gale making period costumes for the Bristol Light Opera Company and The Bristol Hippodrome.
This workshop is designed to quickly walk you through the basics, build your confidence and get you started on the exciting journey of sewing and mending! Using a sewing box or sewing machine, easily creating new garments as well as mending.

Get to know your way round your sewing machine and learn the basic techniques through a series of small projects to take home. Includes threading and setting up, different stitches, hemming, inserting a zip, making and joining pieces of a simple pattern.
