This course is designed for a beginner with little or no sewing experience or as a refresher for someone who has not sewn in a long time. You will learn to operate the sewing machine while building the basic skills of sewing and finishing seams, making darts, sewing a curve, proper pressing techniques, and how to use fusible interfacing.
Learn how to do small repairs like hemming a pair of pants or jeans. You will make a binder of samples for future reference. Build your skills in a bright classroom where the sewing machines are supplied. This is the perfect class before Introduction to Sewing a Garment.
Sewing is fun when you get the results you want. Our classes are small and feature personalized instruction. You will be encouraged to do your best while enjoying successful experiences.
Because each student cuts and sews at a different rate, and most projects take more than class time, please expect some work will need to be done at home between classes.
We love sewing for kids. You can really go to town and get funky with your designs! Join our four part series designing and sewing children’s clothes. This course will completely change your outlook on buying new clothes for kids!
Beginner Classes are appropriate for those who have taken our Hello Machine class or who know how to thread their machine, wind a bobbin, change stitches and are comfortable with their machine.
In our weekly sewing classes students learn a new skill with each project. We start with a drawstring backpack and move on to pyjama pants, a simple top and more. We are using a curriculum from the Kids Sewing Company, a tried and tested Canadian company
This course is for kids aged 8-15 who know the basics of sewing. We will go over the basics on the first day, but it is highly recommended that they already have some sewing knowledge.Â
The à la carte courses allow you flexibility throughout the summer. Whether you are a beginner or intermediate, adult or child, bring your sewing kit and your project and a teacher will be there to accompany you.
