Materials: Size US 7 needles will be provided. Students should bring or purchase some worsted weight yarn in a light or bright color. Additional materials can be purchased from Needlecraft Cottage with a 10% discount.
Welcome to Needlecraft Cottage!
Needlecraft Cottage is Pacific Beach's Local Yarn Store, located just a few blocks from the beach in a historic cottage. The business has existed for over 40 years and welcomed its new owners, Megan & Aaron, in April 2020. They hope to bring young people back to the handicraft arts with groups and events where crafters of all ages and skill levels are welcome to learn and collaborate.
At the shop, you can find quality yarns for knitting and crochet, modern quilting fabrics, and cross-stitching supplies. Needlecraft Cottage also hosts WabiSabiWeaving in one of the outbuildings. Classes and groups take place on the patio as well as in the classroom.
If you prefer a lesson by yourself, we can book a private lesson, and private rates apply. Classes are for both crochet or knitting, depending on the student's needs. We schedule "Beginner" classes on a rolling basis rather than wait for a specific day in a month.
Beginning Quilting Course is offered by Paula's Fine Fabric. The store has grown over the years to include sewing machines, quilting fabrics, fashion fabrics, notions, and more.
Embark on your Continental (yarn held in left hand) knitting journey with our Beginner's Knitting Class! No prior experience required.English-styleknitters who want to learn Continental-style knitting are welcome, too!
Students in classes and camps choose to work on projects that interest them across many different fiber arts such as sewing, knitting, weaving, crochet or jewelry making.
Learn to crochet an easy cotton dishcloth! A hook and some humble yarn will open the doorway to a whole new hobby! You'll learn chain stitch, single crochet, turning, finishing and more in this class.
