Have you been wanting to try spinning, but never had the chance? Now is the time! Nelly will help you with the first steps in what may become the journey of a lifetime. Spinning is a productive hobby, but is also a very meditative and soothing experience.
It is a way to connect to the raw materials of our very lives, the fibers that make the clothes we wear and use every day. We will get you started spinning on a modern wheel, and will discuss and experience some of the common fibers textile artists (as in, anyone who creates handmade textiles) use most. Class price includes one 4oz ball of fiber for your first spinning adventure!
Private one-on-one instruction is available at a set rate for beginning weavers, and hourly for more specific needs. (Call to discuss) Students may bring their own loom or use a loom in the shop. There are limitations on shop loom use if group classes are upcoming.
We'll demonstrate (in class) how to complete the block including cutting and piecing instructions.
I teach using a projector and camera so that you can clearly see my demos. We will work on 5 beautiful and fun motifs that you can put on your own quilts using your home sewing machine. Get ready to finish that stack of tops!
This class will cover the basics of making a patchwork block. In this class will cover choosing fabrics, notions, and techniques for making patchwork blocks. You should be comfortable with sewing on a machine and using a rotary cutter.
This beginner's class is a complete primer that will start you off with perfect technique and lots of inspiration. It will prepare you for many of our fabulous other classes offered throughout the year. This class will teach you how to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease and bind off.
