Building Information Modelling (BIM) in Design, Construction and Operations is fast becoming the industry standard approach to designing, analysing, and managing building lifecycle.
Introduction
Building Information Modelling (BIM) in Design, Construction and Operations is fast becoming the industry standard approach to designing, analysing, and managing building lifecycle.
BIM in Construction Operation looks at a range of BIM approaches and applications for construction planning and operations, including simulating construction schedules and logistics, buildability forecasting and clash detection.
Entry requirements
Participants are expected to have a first degree at 2.2 level or above (or equivalent), or alternatively have industrial experience. We strongly recommend that you speak to the course tutor prior to the course if you are unsure about your suitability to complete the course or assessment.
Careers / Further study
This module can be taken as a stand alone module, or used to build up credit towards a named postgraduate qualification (PG Certificate, PG Diploma or Masters) within our Environment and Technology Awards: BIM in Design, Construction and Operation; Building Surveying.
Content
On successful completion of this module students will be able to:
Critically evaluate current practice in the use of BIM for construction operations
Simulate construction schedules and logistics using BIM to communicate and evaluate project activities
Apply BIM for buildability scenario forecasting, including interference management and clash detection
Use BIM for construction system design
Evaluate the role of BIM for site utilisation planning
Critically analyse BIM for phase planning
Assess collaborative practices in a multidisciplinary team
Work as part of a team.

Each of our pioneering courses have been created in partnership with industry professionals. And over 150 come with professional accreditation from industry bodies.
Coupled with world-class teaching, they’re designed to equip students with the most in-demand skills, and the kind of mindset that employers want and need. So that when you graduate from UWE Bristol, you’re ready to take on the world.
Revit course training is offered by London Fields Design School for all skill level. Our training will give you the essential software skills to make new ideas into reality. Then work your way up on the job.
This unit will enable learners to understand and explore the basic principles of 3D Building Information Modelling (BIM) using Autodesk Revit software.
As a result of attending this training you will be able to understand Revit’s interface and terminology, set up and begin a project, analyse your building model for performance, such as heating and cooling, create and modify ductwork, layout and create system piping, and plumbing systems.
The training is intended to introduce students to the software’s user interface and the basic HVAC, electrical, and piping/plumbing components that make the Autodesk Revit software a powerful and flexible engineering modeling tool.
This course provides you with the skills required to effectively use Autodesk Revit Architecture 2012. Autodesk certifications are industry-recognised, and will help you succeed in your design career — whether you’re in manufacturing, civil engineering or architecture.
