Basic Life Support (BLS) teaches participants how to respond to emergences with basic life support skills. Designed for pre-hospital and in-facility settings, students will learn CPR skills for all ages, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and clearing a blocked airway.
The First Aid programs taught by Arctic Response meet or exceed national, territorial and provincial standards and incorporate the most recent 2010 Heart and Stroke CPR Guidelines.
Additionally, Arctic Response sits on the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Technical Committee currently developing CSA standards for Workplace First Aid.
Course Content
Arctic Response Canada Ltd. opened in Yellowknife, NT in 2001, delivering arctic survival and outdoor technical rescue programs to government and private sector employees throughout Canada’s northern territories.

Arctic Response instructors are outstanding adult educators drawn from a wide variety of high-intensity professions including technical rescue, military, outdoor education, teaching, and adventure expedition guiding.
BLS CPR is for individuals who are working in the Health Care field and require the Health Care Provider level of CPR. The course includes all CPR skills plus advanced skills such as artificial respiration and the use of bag valve masks and AEDs.

BLS for Health Care Providers was designed for those with a duty to respond and deliver CPR and AED skills using a team approach to cardiac arrest management, and to better support health care providers in their practice.
