The course covers all aspects outlined in the relevant Australian Standards, AS/NZS 1715 & 1716. STAR delivers is Breathing Apparatus programs aligned to a selection of national Training Packages:
Public Safety (PUA12) PUAFIR207B – Operate Breathing Apparatus Open Circuit (Pre-requisites: PUAFIR215 – Prevent Injury)
Chemical, Hydrocarbon and Refining (PMA08). PMAOSH216B – Operate Breathing Apparatus
Course Aims
Develop participants understanding of the safe operating procedures when using Breathing Apparatus
Enable participants to develop confidence in the sets capabilities
Outline the dangers associated with using Breathing Apparatus
At the completion of the training course participants will be armed with the skills, knowledge and confidence to work safely using Breathing Apparatus equipment while also developing sound teamwork skills.
The course comprises an equal theoretical and practical component giving participants the opportunity to apply concepts in real situations.

The Breathing Apparatus course is available in two formats:
Qualification – 2 days (no prior training or qualifications)
Refresher – 1 day (already completed a recognized BA qualification course)
Note: PUAFIR207B has a pre-requisite unit that must be completed prior to attending the Public Safety BA course.
