This apprenticeship standard is suitable for Bricklayers whose role involves laying bricks, blocks and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches and other structures such as chimney stacks.
This apprenticeship standard is suitable for Bricklayers whose role involves laying bricks, blocks and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches and other structures such as chimney stacks.
The range of sites and projects that bricklayers work on include large commercial developments, new builds in housing, alterations, extensions and restorations.
A bricklayer may work one-on-one or on larger jobs where their bricklaying group (gang) may work on a particular section of a building alongside other bricklaying gangs as well as other trades.
Delivery model and duration:
1 day per week in college
Duration: 24 months + 3 months

Upon completion, apprentices will meet the requirements to obtain a Construction Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card. Completers can join the Federation of Master Builders’ continuous professional development (CPD) scheme for individual tradespeople

Our part time course will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to become a recognised bricklayer. You will have the opportunity to learn in our state-of-the-art workshops with specialist equipment.
Our Bricklaying courses are designed to develop your essential bricklaying skills and knowledge, enabling you to work in the industry as a trainee bricklayer.
This short introductory course is ideal for those of you who want to gain some basic bricklaying skills. Those who complete the course will be provided with an Able Skills certificate, assured by City & Guilds.
This course is perfect if you have no previous construction knowledge and you want to find out what’s involved in the industry.
