Imperial students and staff, as well as members of the public, can now learn British Sign Language as part of the Lunchtime Learning programme.
To acknowledge the pace of learning and the importance of student confidence with using a language, our 45-hour British Sign Language Beginners course is subdivided into three progressive steps: Beginners Step 1, Beginners Step 2, and Beginners Step 3.
The starting point for anyone who wants a recognised BSL qualification. You’ll learn the basic skills and confidence to sign. Accredited by Signature.
The course, led by tutor John Carberry MBE was very engaging and insightful. The students learnt about the deaf community and some of the struggles they experience.
These courses are designed to start from an absolute beginner and will teach learners to communicate with deaf people on a range of general topics. You will be taught by a professional Deaf Tutor in a friendly and supportive environment.
