You'll also have access to our Bloomberg suite, which delivers real-time business and market news, data, and analysis to the world's leading industries and companies to support critical financial and strategic decision making. 

Use of the Bloomberg suite is embedded into the curriculum, meaning you'll be at the cutting edge of financial analysis and skills development to help further boost your employability prospects.

You'll also be encouraged to put theory into practice by working on real-life business scenarios, with opportunities to co-design and project-manage a series of business events to build networking skills, meet employers, and discuss key business topics, such as diversity and inclusion, digital transformation and the future of the business landscape, and leadership.

Solent's accountancy and finance degree has strong connections with industry and is accredited by a number of professional bodies. The course content is designed and reviewed in collaboration with industry experts.

  • Through this module you will learn the need for regulation over the quality of financial reporting and the regulatory framework within which financial statements are prepared.
  • Financial Management
  • This module will introduce you to the function, principles, and techniques of financial management. In particular, it will focus on the relationship between companies seeking to raise finance, and the investors who provide that finance.
  • Taxation Principles
  • You will develop a curiosity to understand and critique the impact of this evolving taxation environment. The knowledge gained can be used for a career in practice, industry or for your own personal tax affairs.
  • Management Accounting
  • This module will focus on the accounting concepts and techniques relevant to the provision of management information for planning, control and performance evaluation purposes.
  • The UK Financial System
  • This module is concerned with the analysis of financial institutions and markets in the UK, which are crucially important for the operation of a successful modern economy.

  • Advanced Financial Reporting
  • Through this module you will evaluate current financial reporting practices and information produced by listed companies, including groups.

  • This module will explore the expectations placed on the auditor and consider whether they have ‘failed’ in some cases.
  • Taxation Practice
  • Through this module you will develop advanced practical tax planning skills. Focus will be on the interaction of the various taxes to provide tax planning solutions.
  • Ecological Economics
  • Business needs to change – fast. As a future manager and leader, you will consider climate change and the underlying economics, critically evaluating proposed solutions and their ecological and economic impacts.
