This course is for anyone who wishes to learn some basic techniques of British Sign Language. You do not need any previous experience of British Sign Language to start this class, it will introduce you to techniques used to help you decide if you would like to progress to an accredited course.

Signatures, the awarding body, set entry requirements for learners to have sufficient sight, manual dexterity, facial and body movement to produce and receive BSL
The BSL introduction course will include the following topics:
An introduction to deaf awareness
Finger spelling names and places
Meeting and greeting others
Numbers, travel, and directions
Describing and asking about the weather
Describing people, animals, and objects around the home
Time, dates, and money
Activities and interests, food, and drink.
The course will be very practical, and you will be given lots of opportunities to practice in pairs and small groups. Your tutor is a BSL user, and your first session will be supported by a BSL interpreter
