Mission
Woven Fashion Incubator is a co-workspace, fashion design classes and apparel manufacturer for underserved students, entrepreneurs and fashion careerists. Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, the mission of Woven is to create attainable pathways into the fashion industry. We help the youth, emerging designers, and developed business owners who are passionate about creating with a purpose.
Vision
To bridge the gap with pathways and resources that will empower students and members to make informed decisions about their fashion careers while applying the best practices and sustainability that cultivates the journey.
You will learn how to draw the fashion figure; understand fabrics and how they are drawn; terminology of garment details; culminating in the creation of a mini fashion illustration presentation, including a mood board with fashion illustrations and fabric swatches.
Learn what it takes to start your own Apparel Business and get the skills required to build a business plan, understand the nuance of working with buyers, customers and suppliers.
Create a simple garment while learning how to select and work with woven fabrics, how to read and understand a pattern, your correct size, and techniques to construct a basic skirt. Three versions including wrap, button front or zipper in back.
This beginner pattern making class is intended for both home stitchers and fashion design students. You have design ideas, but don’t know where to start in making them a reality.
Our afterschool and school day programs use fashion as a means to introduce children (ages 7–13) to low-tech, hands-on activities using fiber and fabric to develop creative expression that supports student authenticity and self-awareness.
