Butler Course

The course will incorporate numerous skills, including food and beverage service, wines, floristry, valeting services, grooming, maintenance and care of equipment, household accounting, and PA duties.

Food and Beverage Service

• Service styles, including Butler, Silver and Plated

• The correct side to serve and clear

• How to deal with cover changes in different situations

• Wine service: detailed training on how to choose the wine, select the correct glass, and open and serve the wine, including clearing

• Tray service: covering the basics of different meal choices and how to prepare accordingly

• The appropriate way of dealing with various types of spillages and accidents

• Practical experience of serving guests in a natural dining environment.  During our two-week course, we will hold an exclusive royal dinner for up to 100 guests, where you will experience hands-on Butler service as would be expected at royal palaces around the globe.

Maintenance and Care of Equipment

• Silver: how to clean, store, present and identify the various types of silver

• Glass: how to clean, polish and present various glassware

• China: tips and techniques on how to deal with fine china, from storage to use at the table

• Floristry: learn how to pick, arrange and store flowers correctly from garden to table

Grooming and Valeting Services

• The correct way to dress for various occasions, including the different tie knots

• Hair, nails, personal hygiene and grooming

• Shoe Care (Spit and Polishing Masterclass)

• Pressing (How to press shirts, suits, waistcoats and jackets)

• Packing and unpacking of suitcase

Private Household PA Admin

• Understanding the roles and responsibilities of a Private Household Personal Assistant

• How to manage household accounts for your family or establishment

• How to prepare and operate a staff rota

• How to effectively present information to your Principal

• How to manage staff holidays and other HR situations

• CV building by Exclusive Household Staff following on from our Butler School
