Cambridge Train the Trainer

This course is designed to help education managers build confidence and develop skills in analysing key issues, designing and delivering teacher training, observing teaching and providing feedback to teachers in their educational contexts.

The Cambridge Train the Trainer course is designed for you, if you:

• Have a B2 level of English proficiency or higher.
• Possess 5 or more years of diverse and current classroom-based experience as a teacher.
• Deliver, or plan to deliver, training workshops for teachers (both online and in-person).
• Conduct, or plan to conduct, classroom observations of teachers.

Upon completing the Cambridge Train the Trainer course, participants will achieve the following outcomes:

• Develop skills for analyzing, designing, and delivering teacher training sessions and courses.
• Deepen understanding of key issues in planning and delivering training courses for teachers.
• Develop a robust understanding of best practices in observing and providing feedback to teachers.
• Identify and plan strategies for further development as a trainer.

The Cambridge Train the Trainer course consists of three modules:

Module 1: From Teaching Learners to Teacher Learning

• In this module, we build upon participants’ experience as teachers, considering teaching and learning contexts, what effective teaching entails, and how teachers themselves learn. We also delve into how trainers develop their knowledge and skills.

Module 2: Analyzing, designing, and delivering training sessions

• This module takes participants from the analysis and evaluation of training plans to designing their training activities and workshops. Participants will peer-review each other’s plans and test their skills in micro-training sessions.

Module 3: Observing teachers and managing feedback

• This module covers all that participants need to know to observe teaching and provide effective feedback to teachers. We explore the purposes of observation, methods of delivering feedback, and the essentials of the trainer’s role at all stages of the observation cycle.

Delivery and Certification

• Cambridge Train the Trainer is available in two delivery modes: face-to-face and blended. Both modes include 30 hours of instruction and provide participants with a certificate of completion from Cambridge.
