The (CRFSC) is made up of lectures and hands on practical training in the safe handling of restricted firearms (typically handguns). Prohibited firearms are discussed but no actual prohibited firearms will be used during the practical training portion.
You must be (18) years of age to take this course. The (CFSC) is a prerequisite to taking the the restricted firearms safety course (CRFSC). The (CRFSC) is made up of lectures and hands on practical training in the safe handling of restricted firearms (typically handguns).
Prohibited firearms are discussed but no actual prohibited firearms will be used during the practical training portion. The course is a minimum of 6 hours in length if you have not successfully completed the (CFSC) within the preceding (30) days. At the conclusion of the course, students participate in a written review and practical evaluation.
Successful completion of this course is required to apply for a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) to acquire restricted or prohibited firearms and ammunition.

The non-restricted firearms safety course (CFSC) is made up of lectures and hands on practical training in the safe handling of non-restricted firearms (typically shotguns and rifles used for hunting and target shooting).
The Canadian Firearm Safety Course (PAL) 8 hours of class time is required, must be completed before the Canadian Restricted Firearm Safety course (RPAL) can be taken. 4 or 6 hours is required.
