Ontario Sailing’s Coach Development Program provides training and certification for CANSail Dinghy Instructors.
Ontario Sailing’s Coach Development Program provides training and certification for CANSail Dinghy Instructors. We are the sole provider of Sail Canada instructor training in the province.
Our Coach Development Program staff is dedicated to providing high-quality instructor training to support Learn to Sail programs at member organizations.
Our program offers the full range of clinics and courses required by Sail Canada, including the CANSail Fundamental Course (online or in person), CANSail Technical Clinics and the Coach Boat Safety course.
Our instructor courses and clinics are delivered by Learning Facilitators, who are certified through Sail Canada. Learning Facilitators are expert sailors and highly experienced instructors.
They are a talented and dedicated group of individuals who enjoy helping sailing instructors succeed. Each year, we partner with member clubs who serve as hosts and provide facilities for on-the-water training.
Ontario Sailing is the recognized not-for-profit governing body for sailing in the province of Ontario. In a partnership between a professional staff team and dedicated volunteers, Ontario Sailing supports the sport of sailing across the province.
Staff and volunteers provide leadership in a variety of different areas including training and certification for instructors and race officials, athlete development, and the Ontario Sailing Team.
Additionally, Ontario Sailing provides support with governance and administration to nearly 200 member organizations.
Mission
Ontario Sailing is a recognized not-for-profit organization dedicated to developing lifelong sailors through leadership and programming.
Vision
Ontario Sailing will champion the sport of sailing, enabling it to flourish and grow, becoming the leading, lifelong recreational and competitive sport in Ontario.
Our award-winning sail training programs introduce hundreds of new sailors to the sport each year through introductory learn-to-sail courses and camps.
In this 4-day course (day sailing only, not live-aboard), you will learn how to use winches, helm a big boat, understand all the terminology, knots and actions to take as the crew for tacking, gybing, and sailing from A to B.
Our mission is “to develop the spiritual, relational, and physical potential of young people through sail training, shipboard life, and associated activities in a Christian environment” (e.g. an environment of love, grace, humility, and authenticity).
Learn the basics of sailing while enjoying Vancouver's magnificent setting.
This is an introduction to sailing for the young child with no previous experience. In stable, sturdy Optimist dinghies (designed specifically for beginners), sailors learn basic steering and sail control skills in a small-group environment.
